Characteristics of globe valve and throttle valve
release date : 2022-06
Both globe valves and throttle valves are downward closing valves, and their opening and closing components (valve discs) are driven by the valve stem to move up and down along the axis of the valve seat (sealing surface). These two types of valves are structurally similar, but the shape of the valve disc is different. Specifically, the valve disc of a globe valve is designed as a disc shape, while the valve disc of a throttle valve is usually designed as a conical streamline shape. This design is particularly suitable for throttling operations and can adjust flow or pressure by changing the channel cross-sectional area.
1. The structural characteristics of globe valves and throttle valves:
These two types of valves are composed of key components such as valve body, valve cover, valve stem, valve disc, and handwheel.
Next, we will discuss in detail the advantages and disadvantages of globe valves:
advantage:
Good sealing ensures a tight closure;
The sealing surface has low friction, which extends its service life;
The maintenance process is relatively simple and the maintenance cost is low;
The required height for opening is small, making it easy to operate;
Being able to adjust the flow appropriately to meet different needs.
Disadvantages:
The medium experiences relatively high resistance during flow;
The structure has a long length and occupies a lot of space;
The force required for opening and closing is relatively large, and the operation is laborious.
